Pushkin Monument

If you could travel back in time to see the unveiling of Pushkin monument on a cold November day in 1999, you would have been surprised with the large crowd that had overfilled a cozy and intimate space of Literary Quarter. The majority opinion was unambiguously favourable and thrilled, people expected this monument to be the first genuine example of contemporary sculpture in Ekaterinburg. It was created by the talented artist G. A. Gevorkyan and unlike innumerable Pushkin monuments all around Russia this one doesn't fit any traditional sculpture canons. It is not the shape that is breaking, but the new idea to try to capture an elusive moment of inspiration, a striking encounter of the Poet with his Muse!
